Privacy Policy
Effective date: 1 October 2026
This document is available in English and Italian.
This policy explains what personal data the Fair Pour game (for iPhone, Android and the web) and the website fairpour.app process, why, and what choices you have. Fair Pour is built to need as little data as possible: there are no accounts, and we never ask for your email, phone number, contacts or location.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Fair Pour Studio, [TODO: legal name of the company or sole trader], [TODO: registered address, country], [TODO: VAT / tax number, if any].
Contact for anything related to privacy: [email protected].
2. What we process and why
| Data | Why we use it | Legal basis (GDPR) | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Player ID: a random code the game creates on your device the first time you open it. It is not derived from your device, phone number or advertising ID. | To recognise your scores and group memberships without an account. | Performance of our agreement with you (Art. 6(1)(b)): providing the game you asked for. | Until you ask us to delete it, or 24 months after your last activity. |
| Nickname you choose (1 to 16 characters). | Shown on the public daily leaderboard, to members of your groups and in challenge links you share. | Art. 6(1)(b). | As for the player ID. |
| Gameplay data: daily scores, the timing of your pours (when you pressed and released), the day number, app language, platform (iOS, Android or web) and app version. | To verify scores on our server, build leaderboards and anonymous statistics (for example "better than 81% of players"). | Art. 6(1)(b); legitimate interest in preventing cheating (Art. 6(1)(f)). | 24 months, then deleted or kept only as anonymous totals. |
| Group league data: group names you create, group codes and the list of members' nicknames. | To run group leagues with daily and weekly tables. | Art. 6(1)(b). | Until the group has no members, or after 12 months without activity. |
| Technical data: your IP address and basic request information, when the app or your browser connects to our server. | To deliver the response, apply rate limits against abuse and keep the service secure. | Legitimate interest in running a secure service (Art. 6(1)(f)). | IP addresses are not stored with your scores or in our database. Server logs do not contain request contents and are deleted within 14 days. |
We do not ask for, and do not want, your real name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone or location. Please do not use your full real name or other personal details as a nickname.
3. Data that stays on your device
Your settings, sound preferences, streak, Café progress, statistics, purchase status and your player ID are stored locally on your device (in app storage, or in your browser's local storage for the web version). We cannot see this data unless it is sent to our server as described above. Deleting the app, or clearing the site data in your browser, removes it.
Daily reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. We do not use push notification tokens.
Challenge links and sharing
When you share a result or challenge a friend, the game creates a link that contains the day, your score, your points per pour and your nickname, so your friend can see what to beat. Anyone who receives the link can see this information. You decide where to share it (for example WhatsApp), and that service's own privacy policy applies to it.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The iPhone and Android apps show ads provided by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited for users in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, and Google LLC elsewhere). There are no ads during the Daily 5 pours. The browser version of the game does not use AdMob.
To show ads, measure them, limit how often you see them and prevent fraud, Google may collect and process information such as your device's advertising identifier (the Apple IDFA, only if you allow tracking, or the Android advertising ID), your IP address, information about your device and the app, and how you interact with ads. Google acts as an independent controller for this data. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. When you first open the app, a consent message from Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) lets you accept, refuse or choose by purpose. Without consent, Google may show only limited ads based on contextual information. You can change your choice at any time from Settings > Privacy choices in the app.
- App Tracking Transparency on iPhone. We ask for your permission before the advertising identifier can be used for tracking. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", it is not shared and you will still see ads, but less personalised ones. You can change this in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Android. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads, or Settings > Privacy > Ads, depending on the device).
- United States. Where state law gives you the right to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sharing" of personal data, you can use the device settings above or write to us.
Legal basis: your consent for personalised ads and for storing or accessing information on your device where the law requires it; our legitimate interest in funding a free game with non-personalised ads where the law allows it.
5. In-app purchases
"Remove ads" is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google process your payment and billing details under their own privacy policies. We never receive your name, card number or payment details: the app only receives a purchase confirmation from the store so it can unlock the feature on your device and restore it on your other devices.
The app may ask you to rate it using the review prompt provided by Apple or Google. Ratings and reviews are handled entirely by them.
6. This website
fairpour.app does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. We remember the language you pick in your browser's local storage. Fonts and images are served from our own server. Technical data is handled as described in section 2.
7. Who we share data with
- Our hosting provider ([TODO: VPS provider name and data-centre country]), which runs our server on our behalf as a data processor.
- Google, for advertising, as described in section 4.
- Apple and Google, as app stores and payment providers.
- Other players, who can see your nickname and scores on leaderboards, in your groups and in links you share.
- Authorities, only if we are legally required to.
We do not sell your personal data.
8. International transfers
Our server is hosted by [TODO: VPS provider name and data-centre country]. Google may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, relying on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK, or US states such as California), you have the right to:
- access the data we hold about you and get a copy of it (portability);
- correct it (you can also change your nickname in the app's Settings);
- have it deleted;
- restrict or object to its processing, including processing based on legitimate interest;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example for ads from Settings > Privacy choices, without affecting earlier processing;
- lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali; you can also contact the authority where you live.
How to make a request. Because there are no accounts, we find your data through your player ID. Open Settings in the game, copy your player ID and email it to [email protected] with your request (for example "Please delete my data"). We may ask for details only the person playing would know, to avoid acting on someone else's request. We reply within one month.
Deleting your data removes your nickname, scores and group memberships from our server. To also remove what is on your device, uninstall the app or clear the site data in your browser.
10. Children
Fair Pour is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, or under the minimum age set by the law of their country (14 in Italy). If you think a child has given us personal data, for example a real name as a nickname, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
All connections to our server are encrypted (HTTPS), we keep the data we collect to a minimum, and access to the server is restricted.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above. For important changes we will also tell you in the app or on this page before they take effect.
